Wow! We had a great time on our vacation this year. I think we may have tried to cram a little too much in, but it was fun.
Gray's vacation started on Sunday when we sent him to Kenny's parents. We thought it would be easier to pack without him here. He's kinda demanding. The rest of us left after Nate's swim lesson on Wednesday night.
We got up early on Thursday and left around 6:00 am to head to Sea World. We met my mom and got to the park around 11:30.
We spent a good part of the day at the water park, but also saw the Shamu show, Believe. We were a little disappointed that Viva was temporarily closed due to the birth of a beluga whale. Nate rode the Shamu Express as well. He claims he liked it, but wouldn't go on it a second time. On Monday he told us it made his tummy feel funny. Since we were planning to go to the water park I didn't take my camera in. We have a water camera that needs to be developed still. I'll post those pictures when I get around to that. :)
After Sea World we headed to our cabin in Rio Frio, near Garner State Park and the Frio River. We had a lot of family down there at the same time (Aunt Pam, Uncle Dickey, Kevin, Mandy, Hunter, Hannah, Keith, Jana, Kaitlyn, Ray, Yvonne, Marla, Jake, Avery, Garrett, and Misty). Kenny, Nate and I floated (and walked) the river on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday we took Gray and just hung out in a swimming hole with the family. (There are some river pictures on that water camera.)
That area really needs some rain. The river was lower than I've ever seen.
We got bad news on Sunday afternoon. Jake was coming to visit and he had a motorcycle wreck. He broke his leg (again). Luckily he already had a titanium rod in it, so I think it just has to be set. Mom went to the hospital to pick him up. The pain medicine must have been good, but he was in a great mood at 8:00 am on Monday morning. He's rarely up at 8:00 am!
Mom had to take Jake back home, so she skipped Sea World on Monday.
It was really hot, but the boys still had a good time. Nate fed the dolphins, we saw the seals, sea lions, sharks, and penguins. We caught the "Cannery Row Caper" and "Viva" shows. We were so happy Viva was playing again. They had the baby beluga whale with its mom in the show. Nate really liked the divers. The boys played in Shamu's Happy Harbor for a little while, too. We wanted to stay and watch the special "Summer Nights" shows, but the boys were beat (and so were we). We left around 5:30.
We finally made it home at midnight! We stopped in Waco for coffee around 10, so I was still wired and didn't go to bed until 2:00 am. Work wasn't much fun on Tuesday.
Here are some pictures of the trip.
