Gray had his surgery to place ear vent tubes and remove his adenoids today. The surgery was very quick. We got there at 5:45 (15 minutes late) and left at 8:30.
Dr. Trone said the surgery went very well. He checked Gray's throat where the cyst was removed a year ago. Everything looked good in his throat and there is no evidence that the cyst will come back.
Gray wasn't happy when he was coming out of anesthesia and he let us know. Unfortunately he also did a lot of breath holding. Breath holding leads to low blood oxygen level, which lead to a longer stay in the recovery room. The nurse administered an inhaled steroid that works in the upper airway and gave him some Lortab. He calmed down and his oxygen level went up. We ended up spending about an hour and half in the recovery room. We expected 30 minutes.
He's been doing good this afternoon. He's a little fussy. Dr. Trone gave him some pain medicine and it seems to help. Hopefully he'll feel better tomorrow.
