Change of Seasons

Winter to spring isn't the only season change being experienced at our house right now. Nate started spring flag football practice two weeks ago and had his final basketball game last Saturday. He has had five, count them five, activities a week during this transition period.

Sunday - Football Practice
Tuesday - Football Practice
Wednesday - Gymnastics
Thursday - Basketball Practice
Saturday - Basketball Game

I am so thankful that this overlap is wrapping up and we can cut back a couple of activities. I think they'll be switching to one two hour football practice when daylight savings time ends, which makes me even happier.

We are very proud of Nate for his participation in the basketball league. He exhibited excellent sportsmanship throughout the season. We think most of the other kids on the team knew each other from church and this sometimes lead to Nate getting left out. There were lots of passes thrown over his head to another player instead of to him. Nate continued to be a good teammate and pass the ball to the open man whenever he needed to or was asked to. He really seemed to enjoy the sport. The league definitely had some pros and cons and we're not sure if we'll let him play in it next year. Maybe the city league will change its rules so he can play in it instead.

Nate is on the same football team as he was in the fall. There is one new play and one player that is returning from last spring. The boys have all grown and improved over the winter. I think they will do really well this season.

Nate is still acting a little scared of the ball. After his eye exam yesterday, where he tested 20/100 in one of his eyes, we think vision may play a large part in that. Hopefully he'll be able to see better with his new glasses and will get more comfortable catching the ball.

The season starts this Saturday and we're really looking forward to it.
