post surgery and the weekend

First, I apologize for not getting this out here sooner. It's been a crazy weekend.

Gray did great after the surgery. He woke up starving and drank 10 ounces of pedialyte. That's amazing because that stuff is nasty.

His eye was patched and we were supposed to try to keep it on, but didn't have to if it was causing problems. I retaped it once and Gray left it alone all night.

The doctor didn't put any restrictions on him, so we went out to dinner with Mom. Gray did good. He continued to have a big appetite and drank a large bottle of milk.

We gave him one dose of Tylenol and he slept well all night.

Breakfast on Friday morning was a bit of a challenge. Apparently he could see more with two bad eyes than one; because he couldn't see the spoon coming at his mouth with his eye patched. It is incredibly hard to get him to open his mouth when he doesn't see the food coming.

We packed up and headed to the doctor's office for the post op appointment. The difference was amazing when the patch was removed. He followed things around very well. The doctor took a look at his eye and said everything looked good. There were no signs of infection and the eye looked healthy. With the cataracts removed there is a clear view to all parts of his eye and everything looks normal.

Now we're waiting for the one week follow up, a contact fitting and the second surgery. Maybe these will be the last surgeries Gray has for a long time.

We got back home around 4 on Friday. It was a long trip and we were all glad to be home. Granddaddy and Nate were getting home from school at the same time. Nate was excited to see us and we were excited to see him. He had a good week at school and was looking forward to a busy weekend.

He had a football game Saturday morning. It was against the first place team. The boys played well, but sometimes the other team is just better, and that was the case this week. The Eagles lost. Nate was a little sad because it was his last game with that team and he wanted to keep playing and be the champions. Luckily his cousins were there to take his mind off of the loss.

The cousins came over and played for a few minutes before they had to go home. Then Mom came up.

We took Nate to Plano for a birthday party, only to find out that it was on Sunday. We went to play mini-golf instead. Nate had a great time.

Sunday was the day of birthday parties. Nate had one a 1:00 and another at 6:00. He had a great time at both of them.

Now its time for me to get ready for Nate's party. Its next weekend. I can't believe he's going to be 5 next Wednesday! Time really does fly!
